At the end of each month you get a short report on recent activities at Dr. Silke Bromann Japan Consulting.

OPEN PASSWORD, the successor of the PASSWORD journal for the German information professional sector has been launched on January 25. I wrote a blog article (in German) on PASSWORD and its Editor Dr. Willi Bredemeier.

The dominant topic in the first days of the OPEN PASSWORD platform is the pending shutdown of the department of information science at Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf. It would really be a shame when an innovative, relevant and successful study programme has to be closed down only due to budgetary restrictions. (read more in English on the infobroker blog).

At the beginning of the year, I am planning my conference and event participation. I have already registered for the Competitive Intelligence Conference in April in Bad Nauheim, Germany. Another “must” in my yearly calendar is the Japan-Wirtschaftstag (Japan Business Day) in Düsseldorf on May 23.

The Deutsch Japanische Wirtschaftskreis (Japanese-German Business Association) will celebrate its 30th anniversary in June. A larger event is in preparation. More info (in German and Japanese) on the Website of Deutsch-Japanischer Wirtschaftskreis.

January marks the final weeks of winter semester in Germany, so also my lecture on Japan at Gießen University is approaching the finish line. In January we touched current political and social topics.
